Start the Revolution!

• ‘Start the Revolution!’ is a short moving image sequence reinterpreting a flyer found in the Riot Grrrl movement. The movement was initiated by a group of underground feminist punks during the 1990s in the United States. It features a very unique and strong visual style often seen in self-published zines and posters.
  

• In this sequence, I aim to deliver the rebellious, passionate, emotional, vulnerable, powerful and feminine spirits of the movement through applying analogue techniques to create typography, such as letterpress, typewriter and handwriting. These approaches mirror the style of Riot Grrrl publications, where almost everything was handmade and mistakes were welcome.
  
  
• The video was made with stop frames, with background sound recorded during my workshop session in the letterpress room at London College of Communication, implying my production methods.
